About US:
Abt Associates, a major
American research, technical assistance, and international development company,
seeks highly qualified technical specialists in the fields below for the
anticipated USAID-funded South Sudan Promoting Civic Engagement and Peace
(PCEP) project. The project will promote stability, local solutions, and
citizen participation to mitigate conflict, advance reconciliation efforts,
increase access to information, and empower civil society. This five-year, US
$75 million project is anticipated to start in October 2018 and run through
September 2023.
About PCEP Project:
The project will 1) identify
critical conflict drivers at the local, regional, and national levels and to
provide targeted, strategic support to relevant stakeholders or initiatives
with an interest in and capacity to address and resolve conflicts
non-violently; 2) bolster in an integrated fashion the ability of
constituent-responsive local authorities, civil society and others to shore up
and sustain localized or higher-level peace processes; and 3) empower civil
society and others to more broadly and inclusively engage on issues related to
good governance, reform, accountability, dialogue and local, regional or
national-level peace.
Job Summary: The Integration
and Capacity Building Lead will mainly be responsible for strengthening the
capacity of a wide range of local actors to engage constructively and
successfully on perceived conflict issues. S/he will engage local peace-minded
actors(e.g., traditional authorities, women’s groups, constituent-responsive
local authorities, etc.)involved in peace-building, conflict mitigation,
political participation, and reconciliation. S/he will work with local NGOs to
lead livelihood and/or vocational training activities.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    ideal candidate for the USAID PCEP Project placement must hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in a relevant field (Master’s degree preferred);
  • At
    least seven years of relevant professional experience; experience in
    conflict or post-conflict settings;
  • Excellent
    oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Prior
    USAID or other donor experience;
