Officer
Limited (CIB) is a bank that has been operating in Uganda since September 1995,
and regulated by the Bank of Uganda, offering a full range of banking services
including; deposit taking, lending, treasury and trade finance services.
Information Officer will oversee the use of Information technology (IT) in the
bank, and will be the one to develop the bank’s IT strategy, align with the
head office, and ensure that all systems necessary to support its operations
and objectives are in place. The CIO will provide leadership
to, and management of, the Information Technology department and set the
long-term vision for the Bank’s information-based functions and technology. He
or she will guide the development, implementation, support (including
training), and use of technology in meeting Internal/External customers needs.
He or she will also be responsible for the Firms Cyber Security and Data
Privacy needs as well as Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity. This
includes staying abreast of new technologies and product developments,
understanding client and user needs, formulating practical solutions, setting
multi-year strategic plans for the Firm’s technology and use of information,
and working with area teams to increase the effectiveness of their management
of information and technology. The CIO will be responsible for managing and
developing the human, financial, and technological assets of the Information
and Technology department. The CIO will also be required to make operational
decisions daily regarding prioritization of work, resource allocation,
negotiating purchases and service contracts with vendors, as well as set and
manage both IT capital and expense budgets. An excellent CIO must have a solid
IT background and must have strong leadership capabilities to run the bank
transformational projects as well as the day-to-day operations.
- Set
objectives and strategies for the IT department. - Select
and implement suitable technology to streamline all internal operations
and help optimize their strategic benefits. - Design
and customize IT systems and platforms to improve customer experience. - Develop,
implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans
for IT resource administration and appropriate use. - Manage
IT asset management, including maintenance of hardware and software
inventory, life cycle management and related documentation. - Establish
service level agreements with end users. - Provides
“ownership” of problem thru final resolution. - Manage
RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other
documentation for IT projects and associated efforts. - Make
implementation decisions based on cost-benefit and return on investment
analyses for proposed systems - Negotiate
with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure IT products and
services. - Manage
and ensure optimal operation of all IT applications, hardware and
equipment. - Manage
and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls,
anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
- The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or
computer science. - At
least 15 years of professional experience with a minimum of 10 years’
experience in a senior IT/ leadership role - Five
years of relevant work/management experience in banking industry.
