Social Workers of Uganda (NASWU) is a professional body for Social Workers in
Uganda. The Association aims at bringing together all Social Workers in Uganda
to contribute to a better professional practice, favorable conditions of work
for Social Workers and equitable national development and transformation. The
overall aim of NASWU is to promote and facilitate Social Welfare and Social
Development in Uganda
Comprehensive Care for Children (4 Children) a five-year, USAID-funded project
implemented by a consortium of organizations led by CRS. NASWU supports systems
and structures at country and regional levels to implement evidence-based
interventions that protect against risk, interrupt cycles of vulnerability and
build pathways to resilience leading to an AIDS Free Generation.
and Communication Officer will support advocacy, visibility and branding of
NASWU. She/he will play a key role in ensuring that NASWU’s communications are
both influential and informative to a full range of stakeholders.
- Develop
and implement the NASWU communications and advocacy strategy - Provides
advice and expertise to Branch Executive Committee structures and officers - Develop
communications and advocacy materials including newsletters, advocacy
briefs, leaflets, reports and promotional materials. - Create
visibility of NASWU’s strategic involvement within relevant stakeholders - Take
the lead in organizing media outreaches; arrange all media contacts, press
briefings, and interviews and respond to media inquiries quickly and
effectively. - Develop
and maintain a project website for information dissemination. - Ensure
member recruitment and retention
- The
ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree from reputed
university in Social Work and Social Administration. - Post-graduate
training in advocacy and communication. - Documented
experience in intercultural communication, including a good understanding
of NGO structures and USAID project work. - Documented
experience in advocacy and lobbying with national and community actors
