• Work in close coordination with WASH
  Program Manager and Operation staff ensure that materials are delivered in
  time and according to specified quantities.
• Conduct assessments and/or surveys.
• Supervise on a daily basis all
  construction activities ensuring that high quality of works are achieved
• Have a close coordination with Hygiene
  Promotion Officers and ensure that all daily workers sign attendance
  sheets in order to be paid
• Repair or supervise repairs of tap stands.
• Ensure together Hygiene Promotion Officers
  engages both refugee and hosts communities in consultation, mobilization
  and construction activities where these are community based.
• Encourage contractors to employ skilled
  and unskilled workers from the refugees and host communities
• Support PM to prepare plans, proposals,
  and budgets for project extensions and new construction projects.
• Ensure community workers and contractors
  adheres to Health and Safety standards during construction activities.
• Ensures that use of appropriate project
  management tools to plan, review and track progress on projects
  implementation as well as on the utilization of project resources.
• Ensure the development and implementation
  of a strong M&E system using appropriate CRS tools and resources to
  maximize project impact on beneficiaries.
• Monitor project development and identify
  deviation from approved project plans and implement corrective measures
  when necessary to ensure that the partners meet the project objectives.
• Supervise all skilled and unskilled
  workers as well of CRS Teams producing latrine slabs, digging pits and
  constructing water systems.

• The ideal candidate for the Catholic
  Relief Services (CRS) Water and Sanitation Field Engineer job placement
  should preferably hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil
  Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Hydrogeology or Construction
  Engineering
• At least two years’ experience working
  with INGOs in the field of Emergency WASH or other infrastructure WASH
  programs.
• Implementation experience of water supply:
  gravity fed systems and distribution networks, motorized systems,
  experience in repairing hand pumps, tap stands, etc.…
• Implementation experience in sanitation:
  construction experience especially different types of latrine and toilet
  technologies
• Well-developed interpersonal and team
  skills and proven ability to be flexible in demanding situation
• Assessment, analytical and planning skills
• A capacity and desire to pass on skills
  and information, a confident communicator and willing to work in a
  collaborative and respectful way with the beneficiaries.
• Extensive knowledge of and commitment to
  humanitarian principles (NGO / Red Cross code of conduct) and with Sphere
  humanitarian charter and minimum standards
• Fluent English language (speaking and
  writing) and knowledge of the local language in Yumbe district, Arabic is
  an added advantage.
• Experience of working with local partners
  including local authorities’/settlement leadership
• Proven experience in gender analysis and
  integrating gender & diversity into the emergency program
• Flexibility and ability to work under
  pressure and meeting deadlines in changing situations
• Proven organizational skills and ability
  to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong verbal and written English
  communication skills as well as local languages.
•  Excellent interpersonal communication
  skills.
•  Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and MS
  Office programs.
•  Ability to work independently and
  creatively.
•  Enthusiasm in working as a member of a
  team and willingness to learn.
• Ability to embrace the challenge of
  working under pressure.
• Willingness to be based in Yumbe
