a non-governmental humanitarian national organization established in 1988, and
duly registered with the NGO Board and NGO Forum. IAU is actively involved in
programs geared towards the protection and improvement of lives of
disadvantaged people living in urban and rural areas in Uganda and in the Great
Lakes Region. InterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of Rights
Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health (HIV&AIDS;
Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
(WASH), Environment and Disaster Management and good Management and Governance
systems.
will provide support to the SGBV Officer in the implementation of programme
activities for the prevention and response of SGBV in the refugee communities,
and the promotion of protection integration activities through coordination
with other stakeholders.
Support
the SGBV counselor in developing awareness and sensitization campaigns to reach
refugees on FGM and the Uganda prohibiting it.
Work
closely with the Health unit to ensure provision of PEP kits for emergencies to
GBV survivors.
Assist
the SGBV counselor in organizing continuous refresher talks for refugee
community GBV Peer Educators during the monthly meetings.
Support
the SGBV counselor in organizing awareness and sensitization campaigns in
refugee communities including men and boys in the GBV prevention and response.
Support
the SGBV counselor in facilitating refugees to interpret GBV IEC materials in
different refugee languages.
Offer support
to the SGBV counselor in Organizing and conducting informative meetings with
GBV institutions.
Assist
the SGBV Officer to build capacity of SGBV survivors to form solidarity livelihood
groups for peer and IGA financial support.
Identify
and refer SGBV survivors for livelihood support and other appropriate support
Compile
timely weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and specific activity reports.
Actively
participate in meetings, daily morning address, special events and any other
duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisors.
Document
the best practices implemented, success stories and case studies of the
community level changes for dissemination and learning.
Provide
support to the SGBV counselor in developing timely quarterly work plans and
implementing the community services activities.
Where
necessary, provide Psychosocial counselling to identified SGBV Survivors and
conduct home visits for vulnerable cases with special needs.
And any
other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time
Maintain
proper and updated records on all PoCs and in particular identified SGBV
survivors on their files.
Sign in
and out all accessed PoC files at the records office as per agreed SOPs
mitigate against risks that may happen to PoCs and Organisation.

The
ideal candidate for the InterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) SGBV Assistant job
opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social work, Human
rights, political science, law or other related field;
At least
two years of progressive relevant work experience in counselling survivors of
gender-based violence or vulnerable women and girls
Good communication skills, oral written and
presentation.
Excellent computer skills e.g. in Ms Word, excel and
power point
People centred.
Excellent report writing skills
Ability to work under a multi-cultural environment.
