Job Summary: The Media
Planner / Buyer will determine the best combination of media to achieve the
marketing campaign objectives using a defined media strategy in order to
maximize the impact of advertising through the use of a range of media.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Sourcing
    and selecting optimal media platforms
  • Negotiate,
    purchase and monitor advertising space and airtime in order to r
    each
    the highest number of people in the target audience at the lowest possible
    cost.
  • Identifying
    the target audience for a particular media campaign and deciding how best
    to communicate to that audience;
  • Keeping
    up to date with industry research figur
    es, including distribution
    figures (newspapers and magazines) and audience figures (television and radio);
  • Tasked
    with monitoring buying strategies;
  • Liaising
    and building relationships with media companies;
  • Negotiating
    with media companies to obtain the best rat
    es and most appropriate
    media spaces in online, broadcast and print advertising;
  • Communicating
    with media sales people to adjust media schedules in response to audience
    figures;
  • Booking
    individual advertising spots, e.g. pages, posters, internet banner
    s
    and broadcast adverts;
  • Ensuring
    that the adverts run accurately so that the desired media message is seen
    and heard by consumers;
  • Reporting
    and budget management, including preparing costings producing spending
    updates throughout the campaign;
  • Tasked
    with anal
    yzing the effectiveness of the campaign and using this
    data to inform future campaigns.

Experience:  
  • The
    applicant must have a good sales background and knowledge
  • Have
    very good media contacts
  • Excellent
    research skills
  • Good
    analytical skills
  • Proven
    ability to recognize and identify good opportunities
  • Confidence
    negotiating
  • Good
    team and interpersonal skills
  • Keen
    interest in media and people’s motivations.
  • Highly
    self-driven
