Health Officer
is a non-governmental humanitarian national organization established in 1988,
and duly registered with the NGO Board and NGO Forum. IAU is actively involved
in programs geared towards the protection and improvement of lives of
disadvantaged people living in urban and rural areas in Uganda and in the Great
Lakes Region. InterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of Rights
Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health (HIV&AIDS;
Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
(WASH), Environment and Disaster Management and good Management and Governance
systems.
AIDS Counselor will carry out confidential HIV and Aids pre and post-test
counselling for both on-site and off-site with the best practices for HIV and
Aids counselling and ensure access to HIV services optimally by clients.

- Managing
the partnership with AIC to facilitate VCT at the program office and in
the refugee communities as planned. - Tasked
with networking with public and private health service providers for
access to services by our persons of concern.
- Supporting
Refugees access prophylaxis treatment to the identified people exposed to
HIV. - Providing
nutritional support to refugees with low CD4 count as planned in the
program activities. - Organizing
and coordinating CD4 count tests for refugees living with HIV. - Mobilizing
and sensitize refugees in refugee communities on eMTCT and HIV with its
effects. - Conduct
daily HCT services at the program office and refugee community outreaches
for VCT to enable refugees to access HIV services. - Work
closely with the lab technician to carryout daily HIV testing services at
the programme offices. - Working
with the Peer Educators to mobilize refugees to access HIV services. - Actively
participating in the development of
proposals geared towards the support of Persons of Concern living
with HIV/AIDS - Supporting
the formation of refugee community
posttest clubs at the community level - Compiling
weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and specific activity reports and
ensure timely submission - Documenting
the best practices implemented, success stories and case studies of the
community level changes for dissemination and learning

the health unit in line with support to HIV patients.

- The
ideal candidate for the InterAid Uganda Limited (IAU) HIV and AIDS
Counselor job opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor;s Degree or
Diploma in Medical/Health, Social work, Social Sciences, Counselling,
Psychology or its equivalent from a recognized Institution. - Additional
post graduate training in HIV/AIDS Counselling is desirable - At
least two years of relevant work experience in counselling related to HIV
and AIDS - Good
