About Us:
Uganda Electricity Generation
Company Ltd was incorporated in March 2001 under the Companies Act, 2012 on the
basis of the Public Enterprises Reform and Divestiture Act, Cap 98 and
Electricity Act, Cap 145 respectively. UEGCL is wholly owned by the Government
of the Republic of Uganda. UEGCL’s key role is to – carry on the business of
electric power generation and sale within Uganda or for export to neighbouring
countries; build, operate and maintain Electricity Generation Plants; monitor
the operation and maintenance of its Concessioned Assets – Nalubaale and Kiira
Power Stations; provide Technical Support as and when required by the
Government of the Republic of Uganda through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral
Development; organize, support, encourage and maintain training facilities in
technical and related fields, amongst others.
Job Summary: The Graduate
Trainee (Human Resource and Administration)
will provide HR & Administrative services to all staff and external
stakeholders in accordance with the company strategic objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support
    in the HR & Administration management of all service providers.
  • Provide
    administrative support in terms of making travel arrangements, hotel
    bookings, meetings and workshops
  • Provide
    support to systems that promote efficiency in usage of administrative
    services; utility bills, stationary, telephone bills
  • Monitor
    the payment of bills and staff costs in accordance with UEGCL policies and
  • Support
    HR and Administration in provision of office support services.
  • Support
    in the maintenance of company property and facilities
  • Support
    in the filing of Human Resource and Administration documents including
    staff files in accordance to the Human Resource policies and procedures
  • Prepare
    reports and other briefs to the Administration Manager on a monthly basis.
  • Perform
    any other duties assigned from time to time

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal applicant for the Uganda Electricity Generation Company
    Ltd (UEGCL) Graduate Trainee (Human Resource and Administration) job
    placement must hold an Upper second Degree in Human Resource Management
  • Excellent
    interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work
    effectively with a wide range people.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to
    manage and impart confidential information.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Skills in organizing resources and establishing
  • Extensive knowledge of office management
    principles and procedures.
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural
    decisions and judgments on sensitive, confide
    ntial issues.
  • Skills in the use of database management, word
    processing, spreadsheet, and/or presentation software.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work
  • Knowledge of human resources administration principles and practices.
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Age: Below 35 years
NB: Graduate trainees should have
graduated not earlier than 2016
