(NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of
experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees
and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced
populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food
security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.
- Mobilize
communities and create awareness on environmental protection, Rainwater
harvesting technologies, fuel energy technologies and other appropriate
land use practices. - Establishment
and management of NRC fruit/tree greenhouse within Bidi bidi settlements. - Identify
and train TOT’s on fuel efficiency stove making and extend support to
target households. - Organize
and facilitate trainings tailored towards environmental protection-Rain
water harvesting, Fuel-efficient and energy technologies. - Participate
in the distribution for all project inputs meant for target beneficiaries. - Regularly
collect accurate project related information/Data for submission to the
M+E for reporting. - Supervise
and monitor VST skills instructors and other incentive workers at the VST
Centre who support in routine management of the tree and fruit nurseries. - Represent
NRC in coordination meetings organised at the settlement levels with other
Key stakeholders including OPM, UNHCR and the District Environment
Department.
- The
applicant for the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Project Assistant –
Environment/Agronomy job opportunity should hold a Diploma in Natural
Resource management/Agriculture/Development Studies/Social Work and Social
Administration. Possession of a Degree
in a related field will be an added advantage. - At
least two years’ experience in a related field, preferably in a
humanitarian context.
