organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
(KP) Technical Officer will be responsible for providing direct support to
Implementing partners (IPs) to certify that their capacity to deliver and
monitor high quality HIV-related prevention, care and support services for key
and priority populations affected by HIV is enhanced in line with donor and
government of Uganda guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Project Manager and,
in liaison with project partners, assist with the design, coordination, and
oversight of the implementation of activities to build capacity for
comprehensive key and priority population HIV-related health service
provision - Support mentorship and training efforts to
build capacity of IPs to deliver high quality prevention, care and support
services for key and priority populations. - Actively participate in team-based
referral and management of complex key/ priority population clients
through liaison with immediate team members, senior care specialists and
tertiary treatment centers. - Support IPs to enhance their capacity in
key population performance monitoring and routine data use. - Support IPs in compilation and submission
of accurate facility health management information system (HMIS) reports
and programmatic reports according to project, donor and Ministry of
Health requirements. - Guide client education and facility
sensitization efforts to continuously build knowledge among key and
priority populations attending health facilities. - Actively participate in identification,
implementation and documentation of continuous quality improvement
activities along the HIV continuum of testing, treatment, and program
retention. - Support translation of national HIV
prevention policies and protocols into operational work plans and budgets
to guide implementation of HIV services responsive to the needs of key and
priority populations.
Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s
degree in a medical related field. - Possession of a master’s degree in a health related field
or social sciences - Additional training and experience in
clinical management of HIV/AIDS, counseling and support - Additional training and experience in key
and/or priority population programming. - Up-to-date knowledge of national HIV/AIDS
prevention and management guidelines and policies. - Specialized knowledge of HIV programming
for key and priority populations in need of HIV prevention or treatment
services. - Excellent communication, organization and
management skills. - Understands client confidentiality and
exhibits a high level of ethical conduct.
