About Us:
Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) has been revived as an investment
arm through which Government will invest in strategic Sectors of the economy in
partnership with the private sector to trigger industrial and economic
development of the country. The mandate of UDC is to promote and facilitate the
industrial and economic development of Uganda. The Government of Uganda
received a grant from The Korean Government through Korea International
Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to facilitate construction of a Fruit Processing
factory. The factory is to be run under UDC as a subsidiary- Soroti Fruits
Limited (SOFTE). The company will produce ready to drink juice and concentrates
from Ugandan produced fruits notably Oranges and Mangoes.
Job Summary: The Process
Operator will safely and efficiently use manufacturing implements/ machines to
produce high quality products in time as required.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities:  
  • Preventive maintenance of production
    machines
  • Operate production machines efficiently
  • Control wastage of materials
  • Ensuring that the products produced are of
    good quality.
  • Adhere to health and safety practices.
  • To oversee housekeeping around the machine
    area.
  • Check the materials provided to ensure
    rightful amounts and materials are provided.
  • Inspect the machines regularly to ensure
    they are in good and operational condition.
  • Detect and report any faults to the Plant
    Maintenance Electrician/Mechanic
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the
    Production Supervisor



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The applicant must hold a Diploma in Food
    Processing and technology or its equivalent,
  • Higher diploma in a relevant field is an
    added advantage
  • One year of relevant experience in a
    manufacturing plant.
  • Good communication skills including
    reading skills
  • Mechanical ability
  • The ability to get along well with
    co-workers
  • The ability to keep up to date with
    changing technology
  • Creativity
  • The ability to do precision work
  • Awareness of factory safety & health
    regulations
