as the New Vision Printing & Publishing Company Limited (NVPPCL), started
business in March 1986. It is a multimedia business housing newspaper,
magazines, internet publishing, television, radio broadcasting, commercial
printing, advertising and distribution services. NVPPCL is listed on the Uganda
Stock Exchange, with an expected turnover of over UGX 60 billion (FY
2010/2011).
Magazines will mainly generate compelling content that drives Magazine sales
and advertising revenue.
- File
compelling content for Magazines and English papers following the
editorial policy to ensure quality products that will drive readership. - Coach
and train writers/interns in order to build skills and conform to New
Vision standards. - Participate
in magazine promotional activities in order to generate content and build
database of sources. - Attend
and participate in Magazine product meetings to support content development. - Support
the sales team in order to generate revenue through; client visits,
writing advertorials and developing content that targets specific
advertisers.
- The
applicant must hold a degree in Literature or Mass Communication/Journalism
with a bias in print journalism. - Member
of the Uganda Journalist Association. - Three
years’ experience as a features/lifestyle writer in a competitive media
house – an added advantage. - One
year of experience as a magazine writer in a competitive media house. - Two
years’ experience as a news reporter in a competitive media house – an
added advantage. - Excellent
writing skills. - Vast
knowledge in local and foreign trends. - Proficient
in the use of Microsoft packages; MS Office, Adobe Photoshop. - In-depth
understanding of journalism ethics. - Proficient
in the English language both written and spoken. - Have
a wide and strong network of sources, contacts and partners. - High
Integrity - Good
communication (oral & written) skills. - Good
organizational and planning skills. - Results
oriented. - Creative
and innovative thinking. - Quick
decision making and judgment. - Work
under minimum supervision.
