humanitarian programs in Uganda for over 35 years, working in partnership with

Uganda are livelihoods and food security, humanitarian response, and civil
society development.
Job Summary: The Value
Chain Project Manager (PM) will be overseeing a new 5-year project implemented
together with Ugandan and Danish Companies, and funded by Danida Market
Development Partnerships.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction and daily task management of the Head of Programmes
(HoP), the Value Chain Project Manager will:
  • Ensure
    effective and participatory project management (planning, implementation,
    monitoring, evaluation, learning)
  • Ensure
    close coordination and communication with all project consortia members
  • Ensure
    timely reporting according to donor requirements
  • Ensure
    documentation and visibility of the project and its results
  • Network
    and ensure relationship building with external stakeholders
  • Undertake
    field visits for Field Visit and Field Report:
  • Be
    overall responsible for implementation approaches and quality of the
    project
  • Ensure
    timely and efficient budget management, financial accounting and
    accountability
  • Supervise
    staff directly employed by DCA on the project



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master’s degree in Agriculture,
    Business Development or related field.
  • Eight
    years of practical experience of managing value chain and agribusiness
    projects
  • Good
    track record in leading and coordinating international multi-stakeholder
    teams
  • Extensive
    experience and knowledge of value chain development for export, agro
    business, market facilitation, supporting systemic change
  • Experience
    on working with farmers to produce fruit in Uganda
  • Practical
    experience in working with small and medium sized companies and private sector
  • Knowledge
    of and application of UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • Experience
    of digital financial solutions and using mobile technology is an advantage
  • Previous
    experience working with Danish companies and managing Danida grants is an
    advantage
