Job Summary: The Project
Coordinator (PC) will play a pivotal role in ensuring a high level of
coordination, collaboration and joint implementation with WFP-UNICEF as well as
cooperating partners and the MoH to achieve effective implementation. The
position will require 70% field base to oversee project roll out with an
anticipated 30% travel to Kampala, to support CO coordination issues related
directly to the project. The Project Coordinator (PC) will be responsible for
the operational roll-out of the inception phase of the SCOPE-CODA
implementation pilot in the district of Moroto, Karamoja scheduled to be
launched on February 2018. The PC will oversee project inception, including operational
setup, day to day implementation and ensuring the project supports WFP Uganda
processes and procedures

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Offer
technical support, to ensure the nutrition APP is functional. As required
work with CO, RBN and HQ technical support to adjust the implementation
plan as required to ensure effective roll out of the APP. - Provide
regular programmatic updates, including the presentation of the captured
data to relevant stakeholders. - Provide
overall administrative and operational (day to day) support to the project
implementation - Develop
and update project implementation and operational plans for execution of
the pilot - Produce
activity and progress report against the scheduled activities of the
project - Lead
a project coordination task force of various stakeholders (MoH, District,
UNICEF, AFI, CUAAM) for the smooth implementation of the project - Engage
with all technical units of WFP for a coordinated, effective and smooth
implementation of the project - Document
lessons learned from the pilot to inform scale-up plans under the
[long-term] KNP - Drawing
on the SCOPE-CODA implementation and coordination experience, provide
inputs to the beneficiary information assistance and management (BIAM)
systems strategy for Karamojong
Key Result Areas:
- Standard
Operating procedures for SCOP CODA developed - Training
Manuals and training plan for all staffs developed - Launch
the SCOPE for Nutrition Project - Develop
Coordination mechanism for the project
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the United Nations UN World Food Programme (WFP) Project
Coordinator – Digital Support – Nutrition job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s
Social Sciences, ICT, Development Studies, and any field in the humanities. - Possession
of post graduate qualification in International relation, management is an
added advantage. - At
least three years’ experience in IT project / IT service delivery role. - Three
years’ experience in a Team Leader / Project Coordination role. - Five
years’ experience with digital solutions / innovations. Field based
experience preferable. - Highly
knowledgeable in SCOPE implementation, IT skills and coordination
capabilities and skills of
multi-sectoral dimension to the - Languages: Fluent
in both Written and Spoken English
Personal Competencies:
- Programme
Lifecycle & Food Assistance: Displays ability to identify the main hunger problem at the national
or subnational level to design and implement context-specific programmes
that integrate complex analysis and the full range of food assistance
tools. - Transfer
Modalities (Food, Cash, Voucher): - Demonstrates the ability to design, implement, monitor and provide
oversight over effective and efficient programmes deploying different
transfer modalities. - Broad Knowledge of Specialized areas (i.e. Nutrition, VAM, etc.)
- Demonstrates the ability to interpret basic data in the context of
WFP specialised fields to contribute to technical programme design,
implementation and monitoring. - Emergency
Programming: Displays
ability to translate understanding of programme principles in emergencies
and protracted conflict situations into relevant, effective, and context
specific approaches - Strategic
Policy Engagement w/ Government: Develops thorough recommendations using multiple inputs (e.g.,
government counsel, research, own experience) to strengthen national or
subnational entities and government owned food and nutrition security
programmes..
