Job Summary: The Associate
Logistics and Assets Management Officer will be required to travel frequently
to provide support to all the projects supported by (ESB) currently these
include but are not limited to MONUSCO (DRC), UNMISS (South Sudan and UNISFA
(South Sudan) within the Mission’s Area of Operation (AoO). In particular to
areas where the programme’s assets are located. The incumbent can expect to
travel regularly to but not limited to Abyei, Kadugli, Gok Machar and Juba,
security permitting.
Logistics and Assets Management Officer will be required to travel frequently

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Streamline asset management
services, focusing on achievement of the following results:

- Review
and update the existing asset management and accounting system for all
UNOPS managed equipment and properties in accordance with UNOPS asset
management policy. - Streamline
processes in accordance with UNOPS PSC Asset Management SOP and UNOPS PSC
ESB Logistics SOP. - Conduct
physical verification audits at all project stores as required by SSO and
relevant Project Managers. - Ensure
databases are up to date on the quantity, quality, serviceability, and
location of relevant equipment/items. - Assist
projects with project disposals as required both administratively and
physically. - Implement
internal control system which ensures that goods in transit are tracked
and monitored, and the asset registry records are updated on a regular
basis. - Ensure
projects are utilising the inventory management tools provided in SOP for
expendable reporting. - Review
and assist in the day-to-day management and reporting of assets, maintain
an accounting system for all UNOPS managed equipment and properties in
accordance UNOPS lease and asset management policy.
Provide assistance to ensure
efficient logistics services, focusing on achievement of the following results:

- Contribute
substantively in the development and implementation of a comprehensive
logistics system that will operate in accordance with UNOPS PSC ESB
Logistics SOP. - Implement
a coherent logistical supply system in accordance with UNOPS procurement
rules and regulations. - Guide
projects with container management and storage layout and planning. - Assist
in the review and updating of Logistics and Asset Management SOP’s.
Facilitate knowledge building
and sharing focusing on achievement of the following results:

- Organize
trainings for the support and operations staff on supply chain, logistics,
and asset management processes to ensure the capacity building of the
existing support staff at each programme location. - Ensure
the programme appointed support staff are fully aware of UNOPS rules and
regulations on asset management. - Ensure
compliance with relevant asset management rules and regulations, and in
doing so ensure that support staff is able to carry out asset management
functions independently and in accordance with relevant rules. - Introduce
and synthesize lessons learnt and best practices in logistics and asset
management. - Perform
other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)
Associate Logistics and Assets Management Officer job placement should
hold a first level University degree (Bachelor’s degree) in public
administration, supply chain, logistics, asset management or other related
field combined with 4 years of relevant experience in public
administration, supply chain, logistics, asset management or other
relevant field is required OR; - Secondary
Education combined with 8 years of relevant experience in public administration,
supply chain, logistics, asset management or other relevant field is
required. - A
Professional Certificate in Supply Chain Management is desired. - A
Professional Certificate in Asset Management is desired. - At
least four years of relevant experience in asset management, supply chain
management, cargo management or logistics is required. - One
year of experience working in conflict/post-conflict environment is
required. - Experience
of UNOPS ERP systems (oneUNOPS) is desired. - A
Valid national driver’s license is required. - Language: Fluency in English (reading, writing
and speaking) is required. knowledge of a second official UN language is
considered an asset.
