Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit organization which is a
partnership of infectious diseases and public health specialists. The overall
objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems with strong emphasis on
Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development. IDI has five
operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention,
Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided
through a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins University
Core Lab) and Outreach.
Technical Trainer will support the delivery of exciting training programmes in
the areas of Pathogens of security concern, Infection Prevention and Control,
HIV, TB, Malaria, and Laboratory monitoring and diagnosis that can influence
quality of health care in Uganda and other African countries.
- Training:
Provide technical coordination for courses related to prevention and
management of emerging infectious diseases such as Viral Haemorrhagic
fevers, other pathogens of security concern. Provide care to patients in
the IDI clinic. - Project
Management: Ensure that milestones for assigned projects are met through
effective planning. Create and execute project work plans and revise as
appropriate to comply with project milestones. Compile activity and
periodic reports.
- The
applicant must hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized
institution. - Post-graduate
degree/qualification in Medicine, Public Health or Infectious Diseases
would be an added advantage. - Four
years’ experience in the field of healthcare provider training in resource
limited settings. - S/he
should have demonstrated experience in the delivery of health education
programs in the field of HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, pathogens of security
concern and/or other infectious diseases. - S/he
should have demonstrated teaching, facilitation, and mentoring skills
including use of adult learning methodology and use of e-materials - Familiarity
with national health issues in the areas of Ebola (Viral Hemorrhagic
Fever) case management is an added advantage - Previous
experience working in the Ebola treatment unit will be an added advantage - Registration
with the appropriate regulatory authority in Uganda, mandatory - Excellent
spoken and written English - Excellent
facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills - Good
report writing and technical skills, including proficiency with computers.
