Rakai Health Sciences Program
is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery organization. It
strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a
combination of community based research, curative services and prevention
strategies in the District of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is based at the
Uganda Virus Research Institute Entebbe and Kalisizo in Rakai District.
About CDC Program:
With funding from PEPFAR/
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), RHSP is implementing a 5 year
comprehensive HIV/ AIDS program in the 12 districts of Masaka region namely;
Rakai, Kyotera, Masaka, Kalungu, Bukomansimbi, Lyantonde, Lwengo, Sembabule,
Butambala, Gomba, Mpigi, and Kalangala with an aim of achieving rapid HIV
epidemic control.
Job Summary: The Regional
Training Coordinator will be responsible for coordination and overseeing all
training activities in Rakai Health sciences program (RHSP); both related to
HIV/ AIDS & other areas of interest to the program in collaboration with
the different management structures in RHSP. He/ She will provide technical
assistance to the project and district teams to ensure that all training
activities are conducted in a timely, orderly and integrated way.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the scheduling and implementation of
    all training related activities related to RHSP in the supported
    districts.
  • Oversee the process of developing integrated
    training work plans for RHSP
  • Provide oversight for the training and post training mentorship of
    project and health facility teams in in line with MoH policies and CDC
    funding guidelines.
  • Work with the relevant district personnel to
    ensure that facility health workers with knowledge & skills gaps are identified and supported
    to access the needed trainings
  • Ensure quality of all the training activities
  • Support the process of developing, updating and
    obtaining the training curriculums for the different courses offered to
    support program activities
    in Masaka region.
  • Strengthen documentation and records management
    of all training activities by Rakai Health Sciences Program.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the Regional Training Coordinator job opportunity should
    hold a Bachelor’s degree in medicine and Surgery, Education, SWASA, or Humanities
  • Possession of a Post graduate training in
    Public Health or a relevant field will be an added advantage
  • Specialized training in supporting and offering
    trainings & mentorships will be an added advantage.
  • Three years’ experience working and supporting
    training related activities in the context of the government health care
    setting, and in NGO setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal
    skills including the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Knowledge of USG training policies and
    regulations, MoH and district procedures and practices is an added
    advantage.
