Board (UNEB) is a body corporate established under Cap.137 Laws of Uganda. Its
Vision is “To be a leading center of assessment for quality education” and its
mission is “To ensure continued improvement of quality, validity and
reliability of assessment and evaluation of the curriculum and learners’
achievement.”
Public Relations Officer will provide information about the Board’s activities
to the general public and to act as a link with stake-holders in a manner that
projects the image of the Board positively.
- Implement
the Public Relations and Communication policy and strategy to ensure
maximum positive publicity of UNEB. - Direct
and nurture Staff in the Public Relations section to enable them achieve
their objectives as well as the organizational objectives. - Promote
an understanding of the Board and its activities or programmes among
stakeholders and the general public to generate and sustain appreciation
of its contribution to national development. - Develop
and maintain contacts with the media to maximize public relations
opportunities and positive image building for the Board. - Develop
an in-house journal or Newsletter and annual reports derived from
departmental reports to disseminate information on all affairs and
activities of the Board to maximize public awareness. - Maintain
communication and marketing tools such as video and photographic library,
brochures, calendars, diaries, flyers documentaries and an interactive
Website. - Promptly
respond to customer queries and complaints and compile information
regarding complaints by the general public and other stake-holders as
feedback to enable the Board take appropriate action. - Develop
an internal communication network such that all Staff are kept informed
about the Board’s policies and achievements and to get source materials
for publicity purposes. - Develop
a robust consultative network with external agencies in the planning and
execution of events such as conferences press releases, social
responsibility programmes to maximize organizational representation and
public relations opportunities. - Perform
protocol duties as need may arise. - Carryout
necessary research required to maintain awareness of new developments in
the field of Public Relations for maximum efficiency in executing the
function. - Perform
any other related duties as will be assigned from time to time by the
supervisor.
- Existence
of sound Public Relations policies, procedures and manuals. - Effective
communication channels set up such as regular publication of a Newsletter,
Brochures, Circulars, Press releases. - Harmonious
relations between the Board and the general public. - Regular,
concise and accurate information about the Board released to the media
timely and after sufficient consultations. - A
regularly maintained interactive website with current content
- The
applicant for the Principal Public Relations Officer r job must hold a Master’s
degree in Mass Communication or Journalism from a reputable institution
with specialization In Public Relations or with specialized postgraduate
training in Public Relations. - At
least eight (8) years of relevant working experience and a minimum of
three (3) years at the level of Senior Public Relations Officer in the
public sector or reputable organization(s) in the private sector. - Excellent
interpersonal, report writing and communication skills. - Good
Computer skills in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and presentation
application. - Budget
management skills - Personal
Qualities: Accountability,
Confidentiality, Team-work, Innovativeness and Professionalism. - Age
Limit: Between 35 to 45
years old
