humanitarian programs in Uganda for over 35 years, working in partnership with

Uganda are livelihoods and food security, humanitarian response, and civil
society development.
Job Summary: The
Humanitarian Programme Officer will primarily ensure the implementation of
timely and high quality humanitarian response in close cooperation with the DCA
humanitarian project team and NGO partners.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Under the direction and
daily task management of the Head of Programmes (HoP), the Humanitarian
Programme Officer will be responsible for:
  • Monitoring,
    reporting and documenting project results including lessons learnt.
  • Ensuring
    close cooperation and exchange of information within DCA and the ACT
    Alliance, incl. participation in cluster/sector meetings and collaboration
    on appeals and other joint humanitarian responses
  • Assisting
    in project and proposal development, as well as preparation and
    implementation of reviews and evaluations of humanitarian projects
  • Grants
    management including financial project budget monitoring and
    accountability
  • Capacity
    building of DCA staff and partners including ACT members 



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the Humanitarian Programme Officer job should possess
    a good university degree in humanitarian response or other related
    discipline.
  • At
    least five years of experience from a similar position in emergency and
    humanitarian response work
  • Extensive
    experience with grants management
  • Knowledge
    of Sphere Standards and Core Humanitarian Standards
  • Knowledge
    and work experience from livelihoods and cash transfer programming
  • Experience
    with mobile monitoring technology an advantage
  • Experience
    with mainstreaming protection, gender equality, and applying a
    rights-based approach.
  • Outgoing,
    results-oriented and proactive with good liaison and coordination skills
