Job Summary: The Head of
IT will develop and implement an effective ICT strategy that supports the
corporate strategy, maximizes service delivery and fully exploits technological
resources available in the Bank; responsible for managing and influencing the
organization’s information technology function through infrastructure, systems
and Alternate Business Channels.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee
all technology operations including networks, computer infrastructure,
Databases, Banking applications and deploy & operate them according to
established goals. - Devise
and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of
strategies set by the Senior Management. - Prepare
and Ensure Policies & Procedures for the IT Department and for the
user departments are in place (including a sound backup and recovery
policies and procedures). - Take
a leadership role in the establishment of project scope, technical
strategy, cost, budget and staff support requirements with new IT
initiatives. - Translate
business needs to determine technology requirements. - Control
IT budget and manage both capital expenditure and OPEX in line with set
goals. - Establish
and maintain operational and change procedures. - Coordinate
and supervise IT staff, vendors, and other professionals in delivery of
company objectives - Ensure
that IT Audit points are followed up and closed as per relevant standard
operating Procedures. - Database
administration; Installation, configuration and upgrading of servers,
software and related products. - Perform
database, applications tuning and performance monitoring - Implement
and maintain database security (creation and maintenance of users and
roles, assign privileges) while ensuring that ICT infrastructure is well
protected and secured against internal and external threats. - Manage
system implementation/upgrades of the core banking system - Provide
leadership to ICT staff in performance management, employee development,
talent management and building a work environment that drives high
performance and employee satisfaction.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
applicant must hold a Masters in MIS, IT or related field (preferred) and
a university degree in Information Technology /Computer Science - ITIL
foundation level certification - MCSA/MCSE/CCNA
is desirable - Eight
years’ experience in IT at an organization of similar and complexity, two
(2) of which must be at a senior management level - Solid
technical skills in databases, networks, banking applications and telecom
system integration. - Knowledge
of the banking products, digital solution, services, policies and systems,
to enable appreciation of the impact of the role. - Ability
to identify and report priority issues to senior management and provide
recommendations on the best possible solution. - Be
capable of translating business requirements into technical solutions.
