number of countries in Africa and Asia on poverty alleviation Programs, is
registered in Uganda as BRAC Uganda. The organization implements integrated
development approach combining Education, Health, Agriculture, Livestock,
Adolescent Empowerment and Microfinance.
The MasterCard Foundation implements a national level secondary scholarship
programme targeting academically talented yet economically marginalized young
Ugandans. Over a period of eight years, the programme will enable 5,000
students to complete secondary school and transition into higher education.
- The
incumbent will explore scholarship opportunities for the scholars. - Provide
on-going career information and education support services for scholars
currently enrolled on the Programme. - Support
the scholars to draw up action plans for subject choices at lower
secondary and at the University transitional stage. - Support
the management of institutional partnerships, organizing university
recruitment fairs and admissions process, internship placements,
entrepreneurial and employment initiatives, alumni led activities, etc. - The
careers advisor will be responsible for regular reporting and analysis of
various programme initiatives related to and specific to this function and
role.
- The
ideal candidate for the BRAC International Careers Advisor job placement
must hold a Bachelor’s degree in education, Social sciences or a related
discipline. - At
least five years’ experience in a similar position within the education or
development sector especially postsecondary and tertiary institutions. - Possess
extensive knowledge and understanding of education and youth programming - Ability
to mentor and work with young people especially secondary students. - Excellent
written and verbal communication skills, good computer skills &
effective interpersonal skills. - Previous
experience working in a multicultural environment with diverse internal
& external stakeholders.
