Coordinator
is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery organization. It
strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a
combination of community based research, curative services and prevention
strategies in the District of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is based at the
Uganda Virus Research Institute Entebbe and Kalisizo in Rakai District.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), RHSP is implementing a 5 year
comprehensive HIV/ AIDS program in the 12 districts of Masaka region namely;
Rakai, Kyotera, Masaka, Kalungu, Bukomansimbi, Lyantonde, Lwengo, Sembabule,
Butambala, Gomba, Mpigi, and Kalangala with an aim of achieving rapid HIV epidemic
control.
Health Information Officer will mentor district medical clerks in proper
capture and management of HMIS data collected from health facilities and
communities. They will also provide support in entry, cleaning and analysis of
data captured for project purposes.
Support and mentor the health facility medical
records clerks in the following:
- Recording
patient visits and other registration data in appropriate HMIS tools - Preparing
patient files for the clinic day - Filing
all patient files at the end of the clinic - Filing
all laboratory test results and other records in their appropriate files - Ensuring
that the medical records room is orderly and all files accounted for - Ensuring
completeness, consistency and accuracy of data captured in the HMIS - Electronic
capture of patient care records - Timely
compilation of the routine HMIS reports - Ensuring
availability of required HMIS tools i.e. registers, forms, guidelines etc - Provide assistance in the following tasks:
- Perform
data abstraction from the HMIS and other sources for project reporting - Perform
routine data entry into the project electronic management information
systems - Ensure
completeness, consistency and accuracy of data captured in the project
MIS. - Participate
in analysis and interpretation of data - Perform
routine backups and ensure security of data captured into the project HMIS - Perform any other assigned duties in line with
your role
- The
ideal candidate for the District Health Information Officer job
opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Public Health,
QM or equivalent - Background
training in a medical field will be an added advantage - At least two years’ experience in Information
Systems (HMIS,DHIS & OpenMRS ); Mentoring skills; Team Leader;
Understanding of Local Government Structures, Knowledge of MER 2.1 PEPFAR
indicators will be an additional advantage; - Riding Skills with a valid permit ;
- Willingness to work in a rural area, able to work with minimal
supervision;
