Project (USAID/Uganda RHITES-EC) Project

the Center for Human Services (CHS), URC manages projects in over 45 countries,
including the United States.
(URC) is implementing the USAID Regional Health Integration to Enhance Health
Services in East Central Uganda Project (USAID/Uganda RHITES-EC) whose aim is
to support the implementation of a comprehensive integrated investment in
regional health, nutritional assistance and HIV/AIDS programs. The
five-year project targets 11 districts in East Central Uganda with an estimated
total population of 4.1 million through a district-based integrated package of
quality health, nutrition, HIV / AIDS and child development services.
Technical Advisor for SBCC is responsible for 1) managing all phases of
development and implementation of SBCC strategy and activities in the RHITES-EC
project; 2) guiding SBCC team members in implementation, as well identifying
technical assistance and training needs to support team members; 3) strengthening
URC’s SBCC capabilities through program development efforts and contributions
to successful integrated implementation; 4) staying informed of and applying
evidenced-based SBCC innovations and best practices to the USAID RHITES-EC
project ; and 5) defining and supporting USAID RHITES-EC knowledge management
activities in the areas of SBCC and integrated health services.
- Provide
strategic level guidance and technical support to SBCC team in the USAID
RHITES-EC project - In
coordination with other components’ teams and technical advisors, guide
the process of developing and deploying communication and SBCC
interventions and measuring/ monitoring the results, including
communication and behavioral outcomes - Promote
and support the development of quality job aids and other materials to
support technical implementation. - Participate
in communities of practice on technical areas, SBCC, and related subjects - Actively
contribute to knowledge management, which may include documenting relevant
findings and success stories. - Facilitate
exchanges among team members and partners through SBCC technical work
groups and SBCC technical knowledge groups to strengthen capabilities. - Oversee
the implementation of SBCC strategy interventions, activities and
materials, as well as monitoring and evaluation of communication and
behavior outcomes.
- The
applicant for the USAID RHITES-EC Senior Technical Advisor, Social and
Behavior Change Communication job opportunity must hold a graduate degree
in public health, behavioral sciences, health communication, health
promotion and education, nutrition, or related field (or its equivalent). - At
least ten years of experience in SBCC as applied to global
health/nutrition programs. - Experience
in leading strategic planning for and providing technical support to
programs that integrate health/nutrition and BCC programs and health
promotion and health education. - Previous
experience in communication and behavioral based measurement and
evaluation (M&E). Experience with qualitative research methods used in
pretesting of concepts, materials and interventions. Superior ability to
apply research to program design and improvement. - State
of the art knowledge of SBCC theories, approaches, and interventions. - Demonstrated
ability to develop creative programs, networks, linkages with clients and
collaborating organizations. - Exceptional
writing skills (to include report, and technical writing experience) in
addition to strong editing and organizational skills. - Outstanding
interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work well in a team. - Familiarity
with USAID programs and initiatives, the Global Health Initiative, and
PEPFAR. - Ability
to set priorities, meet deadlines, pay attention to details and handle a
variety of responsibilities efficiently and effectively. - Fluency
and ability to work professionally in English and (desirable) one Ugandan
regional language. - Ability
and willingness to travel to the field approximately 50% of the time
