Research Coordinator
legally established in 2001 as a Company limited by guarantee of its founding
Bodies namely, Mulago Hospital, Ministry of Health, Makerere University and
Uganda Heart Foundation. In UHI therefore commenced operating as a
semi-autonomous Unit under Mulago Hospital. The purpose of the registering UHI
as a limited Company was to fasten the growth and development of the Institute,
by enabling it to solicit for funds and manage its resources at source.
Group Coordinator will design, coordinate, and supervise trial support groups
(2) groups per Saturday, or 16 groups in rotation)
- To study protocol and procedures including
gaining expertise in rheumatic heart disease knowledge. - Secures location for 16 support groups in
communities where cases are identified, and ensure these facilities are
open and accessible on days of support group. - Work in close conjunction with PI, develops the
curriculum for 24 child
support groups and develop a materials list to support these curriculum
plans. - Sources the materials for support group and bring
to support group sites. - Carries out monthly trainings with caseworkers
on conduct of support groups. - Ensures staffing for each group and coordinates when staffing replacements are
needed. - Leads support group activities and supervise
caseworkers serving as assistant facilitators. - Supervises the activities of the caseworkers as
they relate to promotion of the support groups for their caseload. - Ensures supplies and staffing for penicillin
support groups (1 per weekend), including additional nursing support for
penicillin injections. - Coordinates an additional adult activity for
parents/guardians who attend support group with their children. - Acts as a Liaison officer with the communities
where support groups are occurring to maintain good community relations. - Performs
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
- The
applicant must hold a University degree from a recognized institution,
preferably in an education or child-development related field or equivalent
experience. - One
year of experience in community or health programming or education. - We
seek an individual with a high level of personal motivation and excellent
skills in team management, team building, community outreach, and
communication. - Applicants
must be fluent in English and Luo.
