Job Summary: The Study
Midwife will keenly review and monitor the implementation of systems and
procedures for managing research study as well as provide technical support in
line with the study protocol and GCP guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • The
    study midwife Identifying and screening study potential participants for
    IMPAACT studies, obtaining all necessary information as per the specific
    study protocols
  • The
    jobholder will obtain written informed consent from potential participants
    who would be attending ANC, Labour ward and postnatal clinic
  • Provide
    Pre and post-test HIV counselling to mothers
  • Manage
    all stages of labour for potential or study participants, conduct general
    examination and carryout study specific procedures for all potential or
    study participants pre and post entry into the study, take off study
    specific samples required from the study participants after consent,
    package them well and hand them to the laboratory personnel for shipment,
    collect and file any required data for completion of case report forms
    during their interaction of the study participants
  • Provide
    neonatal care to the new-born study participants while utilizing the
    baby’s matrix and appreciate data collection tools, treat their minor
    illness and refill appreciate drugs, prepare and submit weekly reports.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    ideal candidate for the Baylor Uganda Study Midwife job opportunity should
    hold a  Diploma in midwifery
  • At
    least three years of working experience in Midwifery with one year
    preferably in a research setting
