About USAID RHITES-EC Project:
University Research Co., LLC
(URC) is implementing the USAID Regional Health Integration to Enhance Health
Services in East Central Uganda Project (USAID/Uganda RHITES-EC) whose aim is
to support the implementation of a comprehensive integrated investment in
regional  health, nutritional assistance and HIV/AIDS programs. The
five-year project targets 11 districts in East Central Uganda with an estimated
total population of 4.1 million through a district-based integrated package of
quality health, nutrition, HIV / AIDS and child development services.
Job Summary:  The Program Officer- Malaria will collaborate
with the Malaria Technical Advisor to support the RHITES-EC technical team,
districts and health facilities to plan, coordinate and monitor implementation
of sound Malaria interventions aligned to the Uganda Malaria Reduction 2014 –
2020 strategic plan including promoting case management (diagnosis, treatment
and prevention) and prevention efforts through implementation of strategic
objectives and interventions. Malaria Program Officer will work together with
Malaria Technical Advisor in liaison with Ministry of Health (MoH) and relevant
stakeholders to improve the quality of health care services in target
districts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively
    participate in coordination of implementation of Malaria case management
    including diagnosis treatment and prevention activities in RHITES-EC
    supported districts.
  • Participate
    in MOH-National Malaria Control Program planning and coordination meetings
    and activities.
  • Coordinate
    provider skills strengthening activities for all components of Malaria
    activities in the project supported health facilities
  • Actively
    contribute to collaborative efforts with a wide array of organizations,
    including district-level partners, the National Malaria Control Program
    (NMCP), and other government counterparts to plan, implement, and monitor
    malaria-related activities including capacity building efforts.
  • Contribute
    to provision of technical expertise on scopes of work for local
    organizations to implement malaria-related demand-generation and service
    delivery activities that target health units and communities, support
    community health worker and community health group efforts to reduce the
    burden of malaria, and support the integration of malaria-specific
    activities into other related health initiatives.
  • Work
    with Malaria Technical advisor to provide inputs for annual reviews and
    project strategic planning exercises, and ensures the accurate and timely
    submission of all required technical reporting and deliverables for
    malaria-related activities.
  • Work
    with M&E Team and Technical Director to help develop, maintain, and
    monitor the activities set in the work plan for malaria activities
  • Perform
    any other tasks as assigned.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The
    applicant for the USAID RHITES-EC Program Officer- Malaria job opportunity
    must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and fully registered with Uganda
    Medical and Dental Practitioner’s Council
  • At
    least three years’ work experience in Malaria program management
  • Excellent
    communication and interpersonal skills coupled with project management
    abilities.
  • Ability
    and willingness to travel within the supported districts.
  • Self-motivated
    and result-oriented person.
NB:
Only candidates who are eligible to work in the Uganda for an indefinite period
