Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit organization which is a
partnership of infectious diseases and public health specialists. The overall
objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems with strong emphasis on
Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development. IDI has five
operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention,
Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided
through a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins University
Core Lab) and Outreach.
Systems Strengthening Advisor will provide laboratory logistical support,
technical assistance, and onsite support advisory services to the teams
providing laboratory services in the target districts, with the aim of
strengthening the role of laboratory services in the provision of quality
integrated health services in relation to Malaria, TB, HIV/AIDS, Nutrition,
MNCH, Reproductive Health, Family Planning, Water and Sanitation. He/she will
also supervise the facility based Lab teams and ensure timely submission of
drug requisitions from the facilities to National Medical Stores and monitor
delivery of drugs to the facilities. He/ she will also serve as the link
between the field teams, RHITES-North Acholi and other relevant laboratory
services stakeholders like MoH/CDC.
- The
applicant must hold a relevant higher qualification, e.g. Master’s degree
in medical Laboratory sciences, public health or related field is an added
advantage. - Extensive
experience working in public health laboratory service delivery in Uganda. - Registration
with the appropriate regulatory authority in Uganda, mandatory - The
applicant must be a laboratory Scientist and Laboratory Technologist with
at least seven (7) years post- qualification experience working in a
laboratory setting. - Previous
experience working as a technical trainer in various laboratory diagnostic
service areas e.g. LQMS, Biorisk management, Lab SPARS, Malaria is
mandatory. Experience working in a laboratory management position is an
added advantage.
