need of assistance can make their own living and fulfil their basic needs. Finn
Church Aid also campaigns for dignity and justice.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work
    closely with relevant Education partners, donors, UN agencies, and
    Ministry of Education on different levels, to coordinate the education
    activities of FCA in Uganda.
  • Identify
    potential opportunities, build, develop and maintain key partnerships and
    networks to advance advocacy and fundraising efforts.
  • Act
    as FCA’s focal point for education coordination forums, e.g. the national
    Education in Emergencies working group.
  • Oversee
    the strategic planning, education programme development and design of FCA
    Uganda.
  • Provide
    technical expertise and advice to education projects in accordance with
    FCA policies, guidelines and strategy, and government guidelines,
    including planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
  • Actively
    contribute to the EiE response plans and education in development
    research, proposal development and project design and development,
    ensuring that provision is made for fulfilling the right of all children,
    in particular girls, children with disabilities and other excluded and vulnerable
    children, to education.
  • Undertake
    field visits as necessary to identify and respond to specific needs, to
    monitor implementation of education projects, provide support to the work
    planning, capacity building of staff.
  • Contribute
    to fundraising efforts (assessments, concept notes and proposal writing)
    and work in cooperation with the Head Office Global Grants unit and
    education team to plan new education-related projects.
  • Build
    FCA Uganda’s capacity in Education in Emergencies and Education in
    Development, including Primary, Secondary, Accelerated and Vocational
    education, with a focus on innovative approaches and new opportunities.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant for the Finn Church Aid (FCA) Education Specialist job
    opportunity should hold a Master’s degree in Education or related field.
  • University
    degree in Education, Development studies. Social Work and Social
    Administration, Social sciences or any related degree.
  • At
    least five years’ experience in handling a roles in education especially
    Education in emergency.
  • Familiar
    with the Uganda Education system.
  • Computer
    literacy skills
  • Ability
    to meet deadlines and mobility in terms of being able to travel on short
    notice
  • Ability
    to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • Ability
    to multitask.
