Job Summary: The
Advisor, Adolescent Development provides strategic direction and technical
management for the planning and implementation will be the primary driver for
all adolescent health activities and ensure the project meets stated goals,
expected result and reporting requirements. This staff will take technical
leadership role in coordination with local government, local community
organizations, and other partners and will oversee and manage the work at
community level. The Adolescent Advisor will be the primary driver of the
adolescent safe space model ensuring high quality implementation, overseeing
the training of 1,600 adolescent safe space mentors. The Adolescent Advisor
will ensure that, the adolescent health interventions are well integrated to
the rest of the project components (family planning, maternal and child health,
nutrition, WASH, and livelihood) and support the achievement of project health
and nutrition goal.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant for the Save the Children Adolescent Advisor job placement
    should hold a  Bachelor’s degree.
    Possession of a Post-graduate qualification (master’s or higher) in public
    health or related field is preferred.
  • At
    least five years of experience required in Adolescent health development,
    health communication, public health, health promotion or reproductive or related
    field and demonstrated experience in management of large, community-based
    and inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Extensive
    experience implementing Adolescent Health Development, health promotion,
    Family Planning, MCH, nutrition or similar programs in Uganda;
  • Proven
    ability to design effective adolescent development campaigns, including
    community engagement and experiential activities in Uganda; prior
    experience working in Karamoja sub-region highly desired
  • Previous
    experience in contribution in adolescent health development strategy and
    materials development, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of
    ASRH interventions.
  • Good
    problem solving skills, collaboration experience, creativity and
    willingness to innovate;
  • Excellent
    interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively
    in team situations;
  • Familiarity
    and understanding of USAID policies and procedures, or those of other
    donors, or those of donor-funded projects or community-based projects;
  • Fluent
    oral and strong analytical, written English communication skills is
    required;
  • Demonstrates
