Corporation (NWSC) a leading organisation in the Water sector in Uganda with a
Vision “To be a leading Water Utility in the World.” NWSC is a utility parastatal
100% owned by The Government of Uganda. It was established in 1972 under decree
No: 34. The mandate of the Corporation as defined in the National Water &
Sewerage Corporation Statute of 1995, Section 5 (1), is to operate and provide
water and sewerage services in areas entrusted to it, on a sound, commercial
and viable basis. The NWSC operations were initially in three towns of Kampala,
Jinja, and Entebbe.
Job Summary: The Senior
Human Resources will ensure that the Human Resources employed meet the short,
medium and long term objectives and that every employee’s potential and
energies are directed to improve the overall performance of the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop,
    review, communicate and implement acceptable human resources strategies,
    policies, procedures, practical plans and budgets, based on the best
  • The
    jobholder will coordinate recruitment and selection activities and
    ensuring that new employees are properly oriented as well as carrying out
    orientation of other staff as well.
  • Undertake
    effective implementation of the terms and conditions of service, welfare
    policies and procedures, and disciplinary policies and procedures.
  • Provide
    advice and guidance to all employees on the interpretation of the terms
    and conditions of service and on any other human resource policies.
  • Work
    closely with the heads of departments and line Managers in identifying
    training needs and formulates annual company-wide training requirements.
  • Develop
    and maintain an accurate Human Resource Information Database.
  • Tasked
    with updating and maintaining job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintain
    cordial industrial relations in the company as a way of enhancing high productivity.
  • Offer
    technical support to Line Managers in introducing and maintaining performance
    management systems in the company and ensures that the company wholly
    embraces performance-management principles and practices.
  • Develop
    and coordinate performance appraisal of employees and ensuring it is
    fairly carried out and identifying their training and development needs.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management.
  • Possession
    of a post graduate training in the relevant field will be an added
  • At
    least four (4) years’ post qualification experience.
  • High
  • Ability
    to work under minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge
    of labour laws of Uganda.
  • Proficiency
    in Human Resources Management Principles and Procedures.
  • Ready
    to work long hours.
  • Must
    be a mature and seasoned professional manager who is able to interact and
    coordinate activities well with staff at all levels of the company.
  • Age: Below 40 years.
