VOL III
is a Constitutional body established under Article 146 of the Constitution of
the Republic of Uganda, 1995, whose mandate is to recruit judicial officers and
regulate their conduct. The Commission is composed of 9 members with powers to
facilitate improving the efficiency and effectiveness of Justice administration
in Uganda. The Commissioners are drawn from persons of integrity and
unquestionable character.
- Hearing
both Civil and Criminal cases - Writing
and delivering judgments - Making
monthly reports on the position of cases in the Court(s) of Jurisdiction - Administering
and supervising Staff in the Magisterial Area - Providing
support supervision to lower Courts - Inspecting
places of detention in their areas and chairing District Chain Linked
Committee meetings - Accounting
for resources disbursed to him/her - Responsible
for Court premises and logistics directly under him/her - Overseeing
the proper management of registries - Perform
any other duties that may be assigned to him/her by the supervisor.
- The
applicants should be Ugandans in possession of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
Degree from a recognized University / Institution plus a Postgraduate
Diploma in Legal Practice from recognized institution within the East
African Region. - Applicants
should have served as a Senior Principal Magistrate Grade I for at least 3
years or Principal Magistrate Grade 1 for at least five years or Senior
Magistrate Grade I for at least 6 years, Magistrate Grade I for at lead
eight years in Government or its equivalent level of experience from a
reputable organization/institution. - Age: 30 years and above
suitable and eligible Ugandans to fill the following vacant posts available in
the Financial Year 2017/18, in the Courts of Judicature as specified below:
