productive lives. As a leader in the Sport for Development field, GRS uses the
power of soccer to connect young people with the mentors, information and
health services they need to thrive, and empowers adolescents to make educated
choices about pressing health challenges such as HIV and AIDS, sexual and
reproductive health and rights, and gender-based violence. GRS’s evidence-based
programmes, led by trained local Coaches, incorporate soccer into dynamic
lessons about health and wellness that engage young people and break down
cultural barriers. With proven results and a constant focus on research and
innovation, GRS has reached over 2 million young people in 50 countries with
adolescent-friendly health education.
Engagement Advisor supports the USAID Integrated Community Agriculture and
Nutrition team to implement evidence-based youth friendly approaches across all
program activities in the community. The Youth Engagement Advisor will be
responsible for coordinating and managing the implementation of youth
programming and integrating activities under program objectives. This includes
overall program planning, advising on youth-friendly approaches, execution and
reporting, ensuring effective delivery of the curriculum, consistent use of the
monitoring and evaluation tools, and account management of program budgets.
Lead on integrating youth-friendly approaches,
policies, and standards within all program outputs
Develop and coordinate locally-based youth
advisory committee to inform development, field test, and ensure acceptability
of youth approaches on all program outputs
Support all partners to execute best practices
and integrate youth advisory committee learnings into program activities
Develop and sustain in country relationships
with key stakeholders, technical working groups, and government ministries
The incumbent will also explore the development
of partnerships and additional funding opportunities
Help with special projects as appropriate to
ensure Grassroot Soccer meets programmatic deliverables and commitments
Plan and coordinate all Grassroot Soccer-related
project activities, including but not limited to trainings, coach development
courses, interventions, and events
Execute all Grassroot Soccer programming
according to grant deliverables
Develop and oversee task lists and schedules
that effectively allocate time and resources for all project objectives
Manage recruitment, selection, and training of
all coaches, volunteers, and program participants
Oversee implementation of regular intervention
cycles, community events and progress against targets
Assist in training facilitation where needed
Provide routine updates and reports to project
management
Work with local staff and GRSP to ensure that
data submission process is functioning efficiently and effectively
Identify any gaps in data flow process and
communicate needs to GRS and employing organization.
Assist employing organization to standardize
procedures and effective protocols for capturing, submitting and presenting
data.
Assist in report writing and program reviews.
Provide support to employing organization so
that all organizations are able to receive and understand timely and accurate
data
Provide support to host organization M&E
Officer and Program Engagement Advisor to understand GRS
Provide the administrative and logistical tasks
required to efficiently run partnerships support.
Coordinate and track project expenditures
Ensure coaches receive compensation in a timely
and appropriate manner
Develop and manage budgets where needed
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Gather and synthesize financial and narrative
reports
Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
degree or equivalent in social work, public health, development or other social
science or related field.
At least five to seven years of experience
implementing donor-funded positive youth development programs
At least three years of experience working on
USG funded programs
Professional level written and verbal
communication skills in English
Proficiency in standard computing applications
Keen attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with
tight deadlines and high programme targets
Ability to manage daily work assignments with
little supervision
Ability to interact professionally with diverse
groups
An interest in sports preferred, and an
appreciation of its extraordinary potential to impact social development
Passion for and commitment to Grassroot Soccer’s
mission
Experience working in Acholi, Kigezi, and/or
Karamoja is a plus
