Coordinator (TPP)
Million Tree Planting Project (TPP) in the Mount Elgon region. The project aims
to plant a total of 10 million trees as a measure to support communities,
mitigate and cope with the effects of climate change. It works with partners to
accomplish its objectives.
Officer, Tree Planting Project (TPP) will support planning, implementation, monitoring
and reporting of the 10 Million Tree Planting Project
- Provide technical support supervision to
implementing partner organisations through periodic trainings to their
field staff and on spot visits to the tree-sites and the tree nursery
beds. - Develop a database of potential partners
and other actors supporting climate change and tree planting initiates in
the region, identifying and fostering areas of collaboration. - Identify needs and challenges faced by
implementing partners and propose capacity building interventions. - Support partners to set monthly and
quarterly targets and conduct regular monitoring and review meetings to
ensure compliance and reporting. - With support from Project Coordinator
incorporate issues raised by METGE, donors, Local Governments and
respective line-managers in project implementation. - Consolidate and submit quality and timely
monthly and quarterly progress reports and work plans. - Conduct frequent field level assessments
to triangulate information provided by partners and farmers regarding
project progress. - In consultation with Project Coordinator
consolidate data received from partner organisation’s Data Clerks and
suggest ways of improving use of such data. - Regularly provide information for updating
for the Mbale Trees website, Twitter account and the 10 Million Trees
Facebook account with the most current information. - Support planning and implementation of
other activities/ projects emerging from tree planting activities such as
apiary. - Actively participate in the development of
fundraising proposals to support replication of tree planting and such
other related activities.
Experience:
- The applicant must hold a bachelor’s
degree in agriculture or natural science disciplines or in a field related
to rural development. - Five years’ experience in project
management in fields related to rural development, climate change or
natural resources management. - A strong background in social media with
excellent written and oral skills in English. - Previous experience in community
mobilisation and tree nursery bed management. - The ability to work in a team and
individually with a wide range of stakeholders. - A motor cycle riding permit.
