Britania Products (U) Ltd. was set up in 1992 as a small unit for
manufacturing biscuits and bread. A confectionery unit was added to this in
1998. To utilize the abundant natural resources of fruits and vegetables in the
country, Britania Foods (U) Ltd., a modern fruit and vegetable processing unit
blossomed into existence in mid 1995. In late 2002, Britania Products and
Britania Foods merged and a new entity Britania Allied Industries Ltd. was
instituted. The Corporate Office and the factory remained in Ntinda Industrial
Area in Kampala, a contributory factor being the land owned by the company and
available for expansion.

Job Summary: The Production
Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and
manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. He will develop
processes that will maximize leadership and supervision, safety, quality and
productivity.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement systems and procedures to ensure
manufacturing operations meet the production plans, schedules, targets,
product quality and cost standards - Develop the departmental operating goals
and budget for approval and should be able to keep expenditures within
approved budget. - Work closely with the Quality Assurance
Manager to ensure that the appropriate standard operating procedures are
developed and maintained for the plant. Adherence to QMS, HACCP and Good
Manufacturing Practices is key. - Work in liaison with the Maintenance In
charge to ensure optimal operation of factory machinery and equipment for
smooth production processes. This includes reviewing maintenance plans and
approving their implementation in a way that there is minimal interference
with the operations. - Analyze line performance, efficacy, labour
performance and down-time and be in position to evaluate the effectiveness
of the preventive and corrective action plans. - Coordination with the Sales and Marketing
Department to facilitate production and operations based on the market
demand with regards to the desired quality and quantities. - Should maintain proper staffing levels,
continuously improve employee productivity through performance evaluation
and training, instill and maintain discipline of workers. - Enforce the health and safety precautions
and monitor the working conditions to ensure a continued provision of a
safe and healthy working environment in the factory. - Maintain all the necessary records to
ensure effective monitoring of the manufacturing process in the factory
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant must hold a BSc in Food
Technology - Any additional qualifications in
Management - Five years of manufacturing experience in
beverages preferably in a PET bottling Industry - Excellent planning skills
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural
skills, people management skills - Good report writing, excellent
organizational and leadership skills - Extensive knowledge of production
management - Excellent communication skills
- Broad understanding of quality standards
and health and safety regulations - Strong decision-making skills
- Be result-oriented
- Excellent computer skills with high
proficiency in ERP software.
