About Britania:
Britania Products (U) Ltd. was set up in 1992 as a small unit for
manufacturing biscuits and bread. A confectionery unit was added to this in
1998. To utilize the abundant natural resources of fruits and vegetables in the
country, Britania Foods (U) Ltd., a modern fruit and vegetable processing unit
blossomed into existence in mid 1995. In late 2002, Britania Products and
Britania Foods merged and a new entity Britania Allied Industries Ltd. was
instituted. The Corporate Office and the factory remained in Ntinda Industrial
Area in Kampala, a contributory factor being the land owned by the company and
available for expansion.
Job Summary: The Maintenance
Engineer will ensure that industrial machinery and equipment runs smoothly and
reliably.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Tasked with designing maintenance
    strategies, procedures and methods
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled and
    breakdown maintenance of the plant machinery and equipment.
  • Planning equipment upgrades and machinery
    modification
  • Responding immediately to breakdowns,
    fixing faults or arranging for replacements to be installed
  • Supports the production manager to prepare
    the plant maintenance budget.
  • Assists the production manager to plan for
    installation of new machinery.
  • Prepares indent and requisition for
    maintenance requirements for approval.
  • Works closely with the store in charge to
    ensure availability of spares and parts.
  • Sources for spares required for plant
    maintenance but not available in stores
  • Carries out quality inspections for
    machinery periodically
  • Assigns duties and tasks to and supervises
    maintenance staff.
  • Coordinates all plant maintenance
    activities.
  • Supervises plant installation and
    maintenance work.
  • Maintains proper documentation of
    maintenance activities
  • Compiles regular maintenance reports for
    management.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a BSc in
    Engineering (Mechanical)
  • Five years of hands-on experience in a PET
    Bottle juice manufacturing plant
  • Excellent planning skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good team work
  • Good people management skills
  • Skills in technical report writing
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good understanding of health and safety
    regulations, strong decision-making skills, result-oriented and excellent
    computer skills.
