Action Program for Districts (MAPD)
Uganda
research organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including
Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 150 publications
and have impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC
currently manages over 41 grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was
established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University
College of health sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the
Uganda Ministry of health.
USAID/PMI funded project. The project aims to prevent and control Malaria
illnesses and deaths in order to minimise the social economic effects of the
disease among the overall population of Uganda especially in children under 5
years of age. The project will be implemented starting in August 2016, and will
cover 43 districts with a total population of more than 13 million. The Malaria
Action Program for Districts project offers a partnership uniquely positioned
to deliver this implementation rollout. Partners include Johns Hopkins Program
for International Education in Gynecology and Obstetrics (JHPIEGO), Banyan
Global, Deloitte &Touché Uganda, Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) and
Communication for Development Foundation-Uganda (CDFU).
- Assess project logistical needs including
Internet data, supplies needs and draw a work plan to meet those needs;
share the work plan with the Project and Procurement Manager. - Work closely with the Procurement Manager,
ensure that project supplies are requested for and approved in time, while
following proper IDRC procurement procedures - Work in liaison with the Supplies Officer
to receive, verify, organize and dispatch supplies for the field team and
also ensure that supplies are received by the intended recipients. - Tasked with photocopying and printing of
all necessary field documents - Organizing for the logistical aspects of
trainings and workshops including identifying venues, dispatching
invitation letters and seeking quotations. - Prepare a work plan for in-country field
trips together with the technical and administrative team. - Ensure that all accountabilities related
to field and project expenditures are accurate, completed, and submitted
promptly. - Work with the Finance Team to ensure that
site support is disbursed in a timely manner. - Monitor timeliness of submission of data
from all health facilities involved in the MAPD program. - Render support to MAPD program activities
as and when requested.
Experience:
- The applicant for the USAID MAPD Logistics
Officer job should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following;
Project Management, Development Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social
Sciences with a bias in Administration - At least two to three years’ experience in
a similar role and setting - Good interpersonal and communication
skills. - Good networking skills
- Integrity and ability to develop a
productive working relationship with District Health Teams. - Ability to operate in a fast and diverse
environment
