About Intrahealth:
For over 30 years, in nearly 100 countries, IntraHealth International
has empowered health workers to better serve communities in need. IntraHealth
fosters local solutions to health care challenges by improving health worker
performance, strengthening health systems, harnessing technology, and
leveraging partnerships. IntraHealth has been working in Uganda for over 25
years. The current project, the USAID-funded Strengthening Human Resources for
Health Activity, works to strengthen the capacities of ministries, districts,
professional councils, and private not-for-profit organizations to better plan
and manage the health workforce for improved health outcomes.
Job Summary: The eHealth and
Informatics Innovation Officer will work closely with the Informatics Senior
Advisor to work on innovative ways to use eHealth tools and apps to improve
data quality use, particularly data from our Human Resources Information System
(HRIS) and related health information systems (DHIS2, IPPS, RapidPro, etc).
Additionally, the eHealth and Informatics Officer will work with the technical
leaders of the result areas to identify areas in which technology can improve
either how work is done, or how the products of their work is used and
disseminated.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with informatics team to find
    innovative ways to use technology to increase the impact of IntraHealth
    interventions and improve data quality and use
  • Develop compatible, relevant, e-health
    tools/apps/software in partnership with technical team leads
  • Propose and develop new uses of technology
    to improve internal work methodologies (i.e. data collection, work flow
    management, among others)
  • Work on health information system
    interoperability



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Global Health
    Corps eHealth and Informatics Innovation Officer career placement should
    hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, software engineering, or
    related degree
  • Demonstrated experience in software and
    app development in support of improving organizational data collection,
    analysis, and performance
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy
    open source software and develop apps or other new technologies
  • Computer literacy in LAMP architecture
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and
    demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse people,
    clients, and consultants
  • Demonstrated competence to assess
    priorities and manage a variety of activities in a time-sensitive
    environment and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to work independently and take
    initiative and learn complex program procedure
  • Ability to work as an effective team
    member in a complex and fast paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written English language
    skills
  • Field experience in health programs, the
    health workforce, human resources management, and health systems
    strengthening
  • Interest and exposure to the health sector
Fellowship Stipend, Benefits,
and Logistics:
In addition to the intensive leadership development and professional
growth that the fellowship offers, the Global Health Corps fellowship includes
the following benefits. GHC arranges several logistical details on fellows’
behalf with the expectation that fellows will take ownership of their overall

Monthly living stipend of $550

Award of $1500 upon successful completion of the
fellowship year
