About USAID LARA Program:
RTI International is implementing the United States Agency for
International Development (USAID) funded Literacy Achievement and Retention
Activity under Cooperative Agreement # AID-617A-15-00009. The 5-year
USAID/Uganda Literacy Achievement and Retention Activity is expanding the
Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) early grade reading program and
supporting the implementation of the National Strategic Plan on Violence
against Children in Schools (VACiS) 2015–2020. It seeks to reinforce the
implementation of the MoES 2014 Reporting, Tracking, Referral, and Response
(RTRR) Guidelines in the 28 implementation districts.
Job Summary: The Finance
Assistant will be responsible for the day to day accounting function of the
Project. The incumbent will be utilizing the appropriate systems and following
proper accounting procedures to disburse, account for, and report usage of
funds. This position will process staff travel advances, payment of vendors and
manage petty cash.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants for the USAID LARA Project
    Finance Assistant job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
    either Business Studies, Accounting or Financial Management from a
    recognized institution
  • Membership or part qualification with
    professional bodies such as CPA, ACCA will have an added advantage.
  • At least two years’ experience at the
    level of an Accounts Assistant or its equivalent in a reputable
    organization.
  • Previous experience of working on a US
    government funded program is required
  • Knowledge of the use of QuickBooks
    application.
