a pioneer in the field of strategic, research based communication for behavior
change and health promotion that has helped transform the theory and practice
of public health. The Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) is
working with the Uganda Ministry of Health and partners involved in
Schistosomiasis prevention and control to design and implement a mass media
campaign promoting prevention.
Support Organisation (UWOCASO) in partnership with Uganda Child cancer
foundation, Cancer Aid Organisation, Health Aid Uganda and Friends Crew Africa
is working with the Ministry of Health and Uganda Cancer Institute to design
communication materials promoting cervical cancer prevention through HPV
vaccination. As a first step, the project
will hire a consultant to conduct a literature review and situation analysis on
cervical cancer and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination in Uganda.
research, documents, and reports concerning cervical cancer and its prevention
in Uganda, with an emphasis on HPV vaccination and the reasons for use and
non-use, and prepare a report of relevant findings.
Specifically, the consultant will:
Search the internet for relevant published and
unpublished research, documents, and articles.
Speak with experts on cervical cancer and HPV
vaccination in Uganda, and collect documents, statistics, research reports, and
relevant sample communication materials.
Consult with the Ministry of Health and partners
involved in efforts to prevent cervical cancer through HPV vaccination in
Uganda to identify literature, documents, reports, and statistics regarding
cervical cancer prevalence and HPV vaccination.
Draft a report of findings.
Revise the draft report according to comments
from the All of Me Consortium.
Prepare a presentation of key findings and
present it during a stakeholders meeting.
Experience:
The applicant must at least hold a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant
discipline.
Past experience conducting desk reviews on
medical/health issues.
Excellent writing skills; familiarity with
cervical cancer in Uganda; good presentation skills.
