client, a reputable commercial bank in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Chief
Executive Officer is expected to be an exceptional leader who will provide
strategic direction, champion business growth and manage the Banks’ operations. 
Based in Uganda and reporting to-the Country Board of Directors, the
Chief Executive Officer shall be responsible for setting the strategic
direction and leading the implementation of the strategic and annual business
plans in relation to the Bank operations in Uganda. In the same context, the
role is responsible for ensuring business visibility, growth, internal and
external stakeholder management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership in driving
    business growth, visibility and provision of effective and efficient
    operations across the bank network;
  • Steer the development and implementation
    of effective business development, marketing and public relations
    strategies to promote the products, services and image of the Bank;
  • Ensure actualization of targeted business
    revenue, market share growth and profitability;
  • Guide the Chairman and members of the
    Board on the performance of the Bank and ensure that the appropriate
    policies are implemented to meet the Bank’s mission and objectives while
    complying with all relevant statutory, regulatory and legal requirements;
  • Work in close liaison with the Chief
    Finance Officer, manage the capital position of the Bank, ensuring that
    adequate capital is deployed at all times;
  • Manage the Bank’s reputation risk, while
    ensuring good relations with the Government, regulatory authorities and
    the press;
  • Develop and implement a high performance
    based and vibrant culture, aimed at steering the overall bank performance,
    growth and market visibility; and
  • Coach, mentor and develop the executive
    leadership team to ensure excellent performance and succession planning
    within the Bank.



Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold
    a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
  • A professional qualification will be an
    added advantage.
  • At least ten years working experience in a
    senior management role in a large, preferably regional commercial bank, or
    an organization of similar complexity.
  • Proven ability and experience in turning
    around businesses.
  • Knowledge of regulatory banking
    requirements, banking operations and risk management.
  • Strong business development and brand
    enhancement skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder, people leadership,
    decision making and management skills.
  • Ability to manage diverse teams, influence
    change in others, motivate staff and cause positive outcomes.
