Diseases Institute (IDI)
organization which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health
specialists. The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems
with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity
Development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve
its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory
services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John
Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
offers free Safe Male Circumcision (SMC) services in 11 districts of Uganda as
part of a comprehensive HIV prevention package. The districts of implementation
for this project are; Kampala, Wakiso, Hoima, Masindi, Kibaale, Kagadi, Arua,
Koboko, Nebbi, Pakwach and Zombo.
Mobilization Officer will actively participate in the planning, designing and
implementation of the project’s mobilization strategy.
- Actively
participate in the implementation of the demand creation plan for
SMC services amongst the communities in the targeted districts of Uganda
over the project life. - Adopt
the existing MOH SMC mobilization strategy to suit the different project
sites. - Take
part in the mobilization of clients for circumcision across all the
project sites. - Participates
as a full member of the expanded AMAKA team by communicating effectively
and liaising with other members of the interdisciplinary team - Participate
whenever requested to do so in other circumcision related duties as
required - On behalf of E-AMAKA, will participate in
the implementation of the following strategies in the rollout of Safe Male
Medical Circumcision: - Adopt and implement the MoH comprehensive
SMC communication strategy. - Develop a brand name – emphasizing safety,
no pain and benefits of SMC - Develop and disseminate SMC and HIV
prevention messages in appropriate languages targeting primary and
secondary audiences in the communities. - Advocacy for SMC at national, district and
community level promoted. - Engage CBOs and health marketing
organizations that IDI works with to drum up support for SMC.
Experience:
- The
applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in social work and Social
administration, social sciences or any related field. - At
least two years working experience - Excellent
communication skills - Ability
to work in a multi-disciplinary team - Ability
to communicate with clients in local language is highly desirable - Good
communication skills - Previous
experience of working in a medical setting, knowledge of the local
language (Madi, Alur, Lugbara) and some understanding of HIV/AIDS is
highly desirable.
