in Central and Western Uganda over the next five years. The Project will
improve the health, nutrition, education and psychosocial wellbeing of
vulnerable populations, as well as reduce abuse, exploitation and neglect to a
minimum of 625,000 children and 101,500 households in 17 districts in central
and western Uganda. The program will
improve outcomes for vulnerable children and youth by strengthening the systems
that surround them; caregivers will have greater economic opportunities, which
will increase their resilience and make them less susceptible to shocks; local
government structures and CSOs will be strengthened to provide services
targeting the diverse needs of vulnerable children, and health and social
service agencies will strengthen their coordination and referral systems to
provide integrated care along the continuum of response. The Project is being
implemented by a consortium of partner consisting of CRS being the lead,
Futures Group, ACODEV, Palladium, ANPPCAN and TPO.
Strengthening (HES) Specialist will support the roll-out of the SILC program,
attend HES Technical Working Group (TWG) meetings train SILC Supervisor &
SILC Agents and eventually lead the Private Service Providers (PSPs) training
processes with support from the Household Economic Strengthening Technical
Lead.
S/he will train PSPs using CRS’ Financial
Education curriculum.
The jobholder will be responsible for ensuring
qualifying households are matched with cash transfer programs and other
temporary consumption support initiatives; trained in SMART skills and receive
marketing skills, as appropriate.
The jobholder will also work closely with the
Early Childhood Development and Youth Specialist to ensure that youth are
participating in life skills including financial education and income
generating livelihoods activities.
The HES specialist will provide technical
support to consortium CSOs and lead the process of establishing strategic
partnerships with the Private Sector.
Experience:
The ideal candidate for the ACODEV USAID SOCY
Project Household Economic Strengthening (HES) Specialist job placement should
preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Entrepreneurship,
Microfinance, Social Sciences, Development Studies
Possession of a post graduate qualification in a
relevant field will be an advantage. Knowledge of SILC Methodology is a must
have.
At least four years’ experience in implementing
/ coordinating household economic strengthening interventions with national or
International NGOs;
Previous exposure and experience in leveraging
private public partnerships is preferred.
Experience in building and maintaining
productive relations, institutional linkages required with implementing and
strategic partner agencies.
