About UNBS:
Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under
the Ministry of Trade Industry and Cooperatives mandated to coordinate the
elaboration of standards and quality of products and services so as to
facilitate fair trade, promote local industries and protect consumers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Support in the preparation of the annual
    procurement and disposal plans and monitor their implementation
  • Render support in managing the procurement
    and disposal activities except the adjudication
  • Implement the decisions of the contracts
    committee
  • Guide user departments on and recommend
    individual procurement and disposal procedures, methods and practices.
  • Check and prepare statement of
    requirements.
  • Prepare bid documents and advertisements
    of bid opportunities.
  • Issue approved bidding documents and any
    amendments.
  • Maintain a providers’ list and
    continuously update it.
  • Manage pre-bid meetings.
  • Manage bid closing and bid openings and
    the evaluation process.
  • Make recommendations for award of contract
    to the contract committee.
  • Prepare and issue approved contract
    documents.
  • Actively monitor contract executions to
    ensure implementation is in accordance with the terms and conditions of
    the awarded contracts.
  • Report any significant departures from the
    terms and conditions of an awarded contract to the awarded officer
  • Maintain and archive records of
    procurement and disposal process.
  • Prepare monthly reports for Management and
    the Authority.





Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should hold an honours
    degree in either Commerce or Business Administration majoring in
    Procurement or Procurement/Purchasing or any other related qualification
    from a recognised University/Institution
  • Possession of Professional Qualification
    in CIPS will be an added advantage
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a
    reputable organisation
  • Highly computer literate with skills in MS
    Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet applications.
  • The applicant must be conversant with the
    PPDA Act
  • Working knowledge of Business working
    Environment
Age: Between 25 and 35 years.
