Design and implement all Local Activism
activities
Develop positive relationships with the
community activists, leaders and community groups
Select a team of men and women to work as
community activists against VAWG
Train, support and supervise community activists
Organize seminars and give support to opinion
leaders in the community
Work closely with district/sub county local
government officials, local and opinion leaders in the community to create
supportive environment for women and girls not to experience violence in homes
and in the public spaces
Organize and manage public events such as,
sports, vigils and celebrations at the community level to denounce VAWG
Experience:
The applicant must hold a first degree in a
relevant field
A minimum of three years’ NGO experience,
preferably in human rights programming
Previous work experience in Local Activism is
required
Demonstrate commitment and passion for promoting
human rights and working on violence prevention
Self-motivated and displays initiative
Knowledge and awareness of gender, human rights,
violence against women issues
Experience in/familiarity with CEDOVIP
methodologies a plus.
Excellent computer skills.
Fluent in community language(s) (Ngakaramajong
for Moroto and or, Kupsabiny for Kween) and English
Computer literacy skills

and for the local activism positions- a thoughtful cover letter, CV and a one
page writing sample that describes: how you would work to engage both men and
women to prevent VAWG in Uganda, to Center for Domestic Violence Prevention.
