Job Summary: The Project
Manager – Agribusiness takes responsibility of programmatic and operational
deliverables of the funded livelihoods project in the DCA areas of operation.
The manager shall ensure effective project implementation, budget management
and reporting needs in line with DanChurchAid and donor requirements. He/She
will also be responsible for quality control of all deliverables including
coordination of project activities with other development partners. Key roles
will include; ensuring effective and efficient use of resources within the
project, contributing to the further development and financing of the project,
developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all relevant
stakeholders at a district level (Government and non-government) in order to
promote effective coordination, visibility, and appropriate engagement by DCA
as well as participating as an active member of the agribusiness sector working
group. Summarily, the project manager shall ensure compliance to DCA and donor
systems, effective team management; ensuring that agribusiness project staff
are given clear direction, support supervision and remain productive and accountable.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        
Ensure the development and implementation of all
aspects of the agribusiness project in accordance with approved project
documents and budgets and take overall responsibility for its successful
operation;
·        
Ensure that all planned activities are properly
implemented according to the approved agribusiness project; including
participatory identification and registration of beneficiaries, conducting of
post distribution monitoring and forming of farmer groups.
·        
Facilitate group leadership trainings on
entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, leadership skills and group
dynamics.
·        
Ensure peaceful co-existence and social cohesion
among the host communities  and refugees
·        
Work in close consultation with the Humanitarian
team leader and the M&E team, establish and manage an efficient project
monitoring system for quality control ensuring timely preparation and
submission of program status reports as required.
·        
Facilitate the identification of farmers within
the households and establish demonstration plots for best practice and
promotion of sustainable agricultural practices and technologies relevant to
the context of the targeted area.
·        
Ensure that the project is implemented in a way
that empowers and capacity builds host communities and refugees to ensure a
sustainable agribusiness project intervention
·        
Strengthen the functioning of community
facilitators and agribusiness staff through provision of technical support and
training in the areas of crop agronomy, post-harvest handling, business skills
and management.
·        
Manage and mentor the agribusiness team and
community facilitators to provide the facilitation and strengthening of
beneficiaries under their supervision.
·        
Capacity build stakeholders on UN guiding
principles on business and Human Rights
·        
Significantly contribute to the development of
DCA capacity and knowledge on agribusiness through increased networking,
documentation and sharing of project case studies highlighting key lessons
learnt on best practice.
·        
Ensure that all reporting (internal and
external) is completed in a timely and accurate manner (including monthly
report covering systems and projects, donor reports, etc.)
·        
Actively contribute to the development of
funding proposals to ensure availability of adequate financial resources for
activities beyond the current project.
·        
Develop and maintain positive working
relationships with DCA staff, national and local authorities, international and
national organizations as well as technical focal points in food security and
agribusiness, coordinate all planned projects with OPM, UNHCR, donors and other
development agencies to ensure consistency with cluster priorities.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The applicant should for the DanChurchAid (DCA)
Project Manager – Agribusiness career opportunity should preferably hold a
Masters’ degree in Agriculture, Business development or related field.
·        
At least eight years of practical experience of
managing agribusiness projects with a good track record of effectively leading
a team of more than five staff in an NGO setting. 
·        
Good track record in networking
·        
Knowledge of agro business, market facilitation,
supporting systemic change among beneficiaries is highly desirable (linking
farmers to finance and credit institutions
·        
Previous exposure and experience in digital
financial solutions and using mobile messaging
·        
Experience of working with Mobile Monitoring
Technology (MMT)
·        
Experience of working in Humanitarian sector
·        
Experience of mobilizing and working with
farmers using the farmer field school approach and working with District
Farmers Associations.
·        
Practical experience in working with small and
medium sized companies and private sector
·        
Experience on working with farmers to produce
oil seeds (sunflower, soya beans, groundnuts, etc).
