Electrification Board (REB) established by statutory instrument 2001 No. 75.
REA is mandated to implement Government’s rural electrification programs. The
Government of Uganda through REA is implementing a number of electricity
connection projects with financial support from development partners to meet
national electricity access targets.
Legal Officer will support the legal advisory function of the Rural
Electrification Agency.
Work in liaison with other departments, identify
key organisational legal requirements and provide the necessary support.
Conduct necessary research required to provide
legal guidance to the Agency
Support the formulation of appropriate
guidelines to support the operations of the Agency.
Assist in the appraisal and development of rural
electrification projects.
Support the procurement and disposal process by
participating in contract negotiations and drafting in adherence to the set
time lines.
Coordinate strategic linkages with key
stakeholders such as Solicitor General.
Support legal proceedings and complaints
instituted against the Agency and maintain a database of the same.
Prepare agreements and memoranda of
understanding related to business of the Agency.
Perform any other duties as will be assigned
from time to time by the supervisor.
Experience:
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in
laws
Master’s degree in law, Management or Business
Administration.
Post graduate diploma in legal practice.
Enrolled Advocate of the High Court with a valid
practicing certificate.
Registered member of the Uganda Law Society.
At least eight years of related working
experience in a reputable organisation and or government.
At least five years of specific experience in
offering legal advisory services in public sector
Familiarity with the electricity sector is
desirable.
