Job Summary: The GIS Supervisor
will coordinate the Company’s GIS; data gathering techniques, compilation,
analysis, and distribution and Overall strategy; GIS Program management, GIS
Database administration, GIS budget, System administration.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        
Manage the acquisition and preparation of GIS
data, to include spatial analysis, data integrity and high quality map
production
·        
Supervises all GIS and Automated
Mapping/Facilities Management (AM/FM) activities of CUL, to include needs
assessment and support to other departments
·        
Develops robust yet flexible databases for the
existing and new GIS layers
·        
Manages and administers GIS applications;
introduces new technology and techniques
·        
Prepares and administers the GIS budget
·        
Supervises, trains and evaluates the work
performance of other GIS technicians
·        
Oversees GIS helpdesk issues; applications and
programming
·        
Promotes inter agency/partners cooperation ?in
GIS projects
·        
Develops GIS strategies, policies and procedures
·        
Trouble-shoots and maintains systems; maintains
professional relationships with software vendors
·        
Performs other work as assigned by Supervisors



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The ideal candidate for the CNOOC Uganda GIS
Supervisor job opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree or above
in Petroleum Engineering, Drilling and Completion or related.
·        
A minimum of five years of related working
experience.
·        
Extensive knowledge of basic petroleum
engineering.
·        
Knowledge to utilize ESRI’s ArcGIS software
products
·        
Familiarity with GPS technology, data
collection, integration with GIS software
·        
Ability to integrate GIS into operation
workflows for the oil and gas industry
·        
Familiarity with general PC hardware and
software troubleshooting, including assistance to township PC users when
necessary.
·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of oil &
gas E&P.
