Job Summary: The Gender and
Human Rights Assistant will build capacity of farmers in Bidibidi and Omugo
refugee settlement on their rights and to have gender issues mainstreamed. 
The Gender and Human Rights Assistant will also work with Mukwano
Company to integrate and strengthen its Cooperate Social responsibility (CSR)
in West Nile region. He/she is part of field implementation team together with
field teams. He/she will ensure that gender and human rights issues are
addressed in line with DCA, OPM and donor strategies. The supervisor will
allocate duties to the Assistant based on project needs. The incumbent must
also have the ability to forge strong partnerships with community structures,
district and NGOs to facilitate the project objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        
Carry out baseline assessment to establish the
needs of target farmers in the area of gender mainstreaming and propose
appropriate actions to improve the support provided by the project.
·        
Build the capacity of Mukwano Company on
business and Human rights (BHR) approaches and train farmer groups on gender
and human rights.
·        
Build capacity/orient programme staff, partners
and other key stakeholders on gender and human rights mainstreaming.
·        
Mainstream Cooperate Social Responsibility for
Mukwano company operations including its own supply chain
·        
Establish clear grievance mechanisms aligned
with the UN guiding principles on business and Human rights.
·        
Ensure adequate documentation of incidents
within the gender and human rights context as you execute the project
activities.
·        
Work in close conjunction with the field teams,
monitor and report on emerging/changing gender and human rights related issues
within the project operations.
·        
Stay abreast of political, social, economic and
cultural developments that have an impact on gender and hum rights.  



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·        
The applicant should for the DanChurchAid (DCA)
Gender and Human Rights Assistant job opportunity should preferably hold a
Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Human Rights political
sciences or relevant field.
·        
A minimum of three years of experience working
with farmer groups on gender and human rights programming, preferably in
fragile contexts.
·        
Previous experience working with private sector
companies and good understanding of CSR approaches
·        
Familiarity with key international standards for
humanitarian work (e.g. Red Cross and Red Crescent Code of Conduct and the Core
Humanitarian Standard (CHS)
·        
Experience in facilitating trainings with rural
groups
·        
Knowledge of local language is an advantage.
