resettlement and follow-up of children living on the streets. The overall
objective of DP is to have a society where every child has a chest to rest
their head on and a place to call home.
Worker Family Empowerment will provide ongoing support for the beneficiaries
(children, youth and their families) to enable sustainable resettlement and
successful exit.
Responsibilities:
Read the files of the referred children to
familiarize yourself with their cases.
Accompany the children during resettlement to be
introduced to the family as the social worker in charge of ongoing support.
Plan and budget for the children and their
families in ongoing support
Develop a follow up schedule for the FEP
children below 14 years and conduct quarterly visit to monitor their welfare
and progress.
Fill the child index forms (CSI) for all the
children followed up
Sensitize and encourage parents to take lead in
following up their children’s progress in school, attending class and
visitation days, taking children and picking them from school
Prepare monthly requisition for the FEP
activities in line with the approved budget
Remind parents to bring their children to
Dwelling Places offices for letter writing, collecting their gifts every school
holidays and bringing their school reports
Collect circulars from parents and ensure they
are submitted to the finance office in a timely manner.
Organize and conduct child protection trainings
for the children, youth and parents and involve local leaders
Participate in the planning and implementation
of the annual children and youth camps
Refer all the children that turn 15 to the
Social Worker in charge of the youth and hand over their support
Participate in the bi-annual beneficiary
analysis to determine the level of support for the children and families in FEP
Recommend parents and children able to support
themselves for exit and ensure sustainable exits
Review the family support plans and update the
children’s files weekly
Write and submit weekly progress reports to the
Rebuild Program Manager by the end of business Friday.
Monitor your budget and account for all funds
received within the stipulated time in the finance manual.
Conduct individual and group counseling for the
children and families on the ongoing support.
Liaise with PR to ensure all children have
sponsors in their areas of need
Supervise the volunteers assigned to FEP and
ensure efficiency and effectiveness in performance
Plan and conduct mentorship for the children and
families in FEP
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by
the line manager
Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Social Sciences or related field preferred
At least two years of work experience preferred
Good interpersonal skills; able to relate to all
levels of management and staff
Excellent written and verbal communication
skills
Excellent organizational and time-management
skills
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office
Ability to manage files and filing systems
Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills,
good judgment & strong focus
Born again Christian
