Publishing Company Limited (NVPPCL), started business in March 1986. It is a
multimedia business housing newspaper, magazines, internet publishing,
television, radio broadcasting, commercial printing, advertising and
distribution services. NVPPCL is listed on the Uganda Stock Exchange, with an
expected turnover of over UGX 60 billion (FY 2010/2011).
Job Summary: The Machine
Operator will maintain and operate the equipment in the finishing section,
ensuring jobs are run according to the job card descriptions in order to
achieve daily targets and meet deadlines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        
Operate the machine, setting it to required
specifications following the interpretation of the job card, to ensure binding
is well done in line with the clients’ expectations.
·        
Maintain and service the machines by following
the set daily, weekly or and monthly schedules to prevent machine breakdown and
ensure smooth flow of operations.
·        
Report any machine faults or breakdowns to the
Engineering team to ensure that repairs are carried out in time, to avoid work
interruptions and to meet deadlines.
·        
Keep track of all materials received by
counting, verifying and recording in a DORAR book to ensure accountability.
·        
The jobholder must communicate the status of the
machines and materials to the next operator by writing a detailed hand over
report to ensure work continuity.



Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate should hold a Certificate in
Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized University.
·        
At least a year of working experience operating
machines in a related industry.
·        
Basic knowledge of machine tools like Spanner
and Allen keys.
·        
Basic computer knowledge.
·        
Ability to interpret, analyze and report on
technical processes.
·        
Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills.
·        
Attention to detail.
·        
Ability to work under pressure, with minimal
supervision and should be willing to work long hours and night shifts when the
need arises.
